SPC's "Eyes on County Council" Volunteer Group

Eyes on County Council, a volunteer group that attends and summarizes County Council meeting activity, has joined SPC!

Background
Sussex County Council has exercised insufficient land use planning over multiple decades. As a result overdevelopment, resource depletion, and impacts to quality of life.
In the November 2024 elections, public outcry against overdevelopment resulted in replacing three
County Council members who all ran on promises of change. NOTE: Three is a majority on the 5-member County Council.

New Council needs to understand that the public is engaged and cares about seeing changes made.

Objectives of Eyes on County Council

This volunteer group seeks to:
-
Maintain public presence at Council meetings, demonstrating voter demand for change.
-
Encourage public involvement! Council is influenced by our attendance and our voice.
-
Communicate critical activities of County Council, with a focus on land use reforms.

After a brief training, EOCC Volunteers sign up to attend specific scheduled County Council meetings (Tuesdays) and complete an Observer Form on relevant issues.
